Obituary for Margaret Gillis (MacPhee)

Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, Margaret was welcomed into the arms of our Lord on April 22, 2023 at 96 years of age. She was born May 29, 1926 in Mabou, Cape Breton Island, NS to John Dan and Catherine MacPhee. Beloved wife of the late James D. Gillis. Adored mother of the late Ron Gillis, Sylvia Falconio (Amedeo), Rod Gillis (Susan), John Gillis, Marie Rice (Dave) and Al Gillis (Wayne). Proud grandma “grams” of Katie (Jason), James, Nancy, the late Mark, Terra (Paul), Amedeo Jr. (Katie), Daniela (Becky), Angelo, Shannon, Matthew, Damian and Felicia. Loving great grandma of Noah, Lucas, Cassandra, Isabella, Sophia, Savannah and Luca. Dear sister of the late Teresa MacDonald (late Allan), the late Catherine MacPhee (late Danny), the late Sarah MacDonald (late Colin), the late Angus MacPhee, the late Rodena Gillis, the late Joe MacPhee (late Dorothy), Helen Gillis (Ron), Jean Parent (Leonard), the late Duncan MacPhee, the late Judy Haslam (Bob) and Kaye Holmes (late Richard). She will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, especially her best friend of 75 years, Marie Willis.

Margaret was the matriarch of our family. She lived her life to the fullest and always kept her Scottish roots and traditions close to her heart. Margaret was a woman of deep faith and belonged to the Catholic Women’s League at Corpus Christi Parish. She spent endless hours crocheting for family and friends, which brought her great joy.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Hospice of Windsor would be appreciated by the family.
