Obituary for Margaret Vegh

It is with grief that we announce the passing of our dear Mother, Margaret Vegh, on January 17th 2023. She is survived by her daughter Linda Cowan (Thomas Cowan spouse), her daughter Janice Vegh-Morin (Wayne Vegh-Morin spouse), her granddaughters Erin McFarland and Meghan McFadden, her grandsons Braden Vegh-Morin and Bryce Vegh-Morin, her great grandchildren Carter Rows, Kody Rows, Rayla Vegh-Morin, Jayden Vegh-Morin, Madisyn Vegh-Morin. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all the amazing caregivers who helped Margaret remain in her home as she wished.

The love of Margaret’s life Nicholas passed in October 2015, and she wrote a beautiful love note to Nicholas to be shared at her death. She is now at peace and with Nicholas.
Here is the note:

“This is another chapter of a “love story” that began 67 years ago between our mom Margaret & our dad Nick. A true “love story” now with the passing of our mom the ending will be written as she’s reunited with with dad. They will write the final chapter of their “love story” together.

Margaret left with us a lifetime of memories to treasure, and inspired this poem from Janice.

Mother
Sacrificed for family, Always
We are grateful
Here are treasures of love
As Memories wash over

Sewing till all hours
Including a mink collar on my winter coat
And Mary Poppins and Raggedy Ann costumes, winning contests
And your beaded gowns and knit purses
Christmas tree perfection, angel on top, Throw on the sparkles
Going to Hudsons and the Christmas floor up the elevator
The best part of the steak, delicious desserts
Tents with stools in front of the TV, and broccoli and mashed potatoes snack
Dinky cars and dolls, pink kitchen set
Climb in bed and scratch my back
Favorite stuffed dogs, grey and dog eared
Birthday cakes with wrapped coins inside
Proud report cards and medals
Driving to ballet and getting a piano
Moon science project
Learning poker watching you play all night with aunties
Hot buttered corn coming home from the beach
Laura Secord treats and Chicken court dinners
Trips to shop for shoes, got me hooked on shoes
Shopping for treasures to put on my white bedroom set
Euchre all night, sometimes Hearts
Learning to bowl with you
The Bowling champions!
Kiflis my favorite, always baked and brought
Weiner roast tradition and muckers in the yard
Why don’t we have a generator – we do now!
Shelling peas, and how you loved the garden beans, even mailed to you
Hockey tournaments, Tom Thumbs the best hockey for laughs
Bowling with the boys and cards at the table

We rest with you in the love
That is beyond time and space
In Peace
With Nicholas
Our grief is the gift
Of loving you forever
