Obituary for Margareuite Johnston (Broaden)

Margareuite Johnston was born March13,1931.She was a spirited women
who was the oldest of three children. She was preceded in death by her father
Andrew Johnston and mother Edna Laroque ,brother Donald and is survived
by her brothers Jim and Fred Johnston .

A women of versatile talent and skill, Margareuite worked in a tomato canning factory, as elevator operator , waitress at the famous Tunnel Barbecue in the 50s, graduated from Lewis Business College,a law clerk, a nurse delivering babies, a teacher helping trouble youth at Scrippes Annex ,an English Teacher at Finney High School, a computer operator at the Burroughs Corporation and she was well know for running the Detroit Dragway for over 20 years and she retired from CVS Pharmacy. She could had been an interior designer. Every season you would see the magic in her home .
One thing about Margareuite was she could dress to the nine and her shoe collection was in the hundreds or more smile.

She was the oldest living mother at Greater New Straight Street Church and head of the mothers board
The ever present matriarch, enjoy a good glass of sherry and listening to music and oh how she loved to dance. She enjoyed making pottery and bingo.


Margareuite loved to travel and read thrilling romance novels. She went by nicknames including grams, granny and muffins. She loved holidays with her family and boy could she cook and her specialties like fried pies and sweet potatoes pie were to die for and you always went home with a large doggies bag.
Margareuite departed this life on January12,2021. She was 89 and went home to be with the her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ who she accepted over 25 years ago.
Her infectious laugh and funny way she waved good-bye will be sorely missed.

Margareuite has three union in her life, Robert Bishop, Earl Whitley and Johnny
Broaden (all preceded in death) She is survived by nine Children: Pastor Bruce(Sue) Bishop, Nelson Broaden (preceded in death), Zandra Broaden,Linda Whitley, Patricia (Andrew) Gatewood, Jerome Broaden (preceded in death) Kevin
Whitley (preceded in death) Pam, Gregory Whitley, Darcelle(Mike) Pykowski,
Yvette Broaden, Jewel (Andre)Perry, Pastor Johnny ( Anita) Broaden. 53 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and a host of family and friends . We love and will miss you momma,granny and muffin.

Momma, the mark you have made on our lives is forever. Not only are you forever in our hearts, but you are a consistent part of our daily lives. Every time we look in the mirror, we see you. In our daily walk, we are you in the way we gesture when we talk, the setup and running of our households, raising our kids, the way we shop and handle business, it is all you Momma. We could not have been more blessed to have a loving, teaching, and devoted Mother, thank you. Know this Momma that you are absolutely loved by your children and will be missed beyond our imagination. The blessing, Praise God, is that we will see you later. Always love your children!!!!
