Obituary for Mary Elizabeth Hodgins
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Hodgins (nee Bashaw) on January 26, 2021 at 98 years of age.
Beloved wife of the late Herman John Donnelly (1969), and the late Carmen Hodgins (1999). Betty is survived by her daughters Marilyn (Joseph) Hollick and Brenda (Dan) Devin. Loving Nana to grandchildren Julie (Anthony), Laura (Kevin), Matthew (Silvia), Alexandra (Shane) and Mackenzie, as well as great-grandchildren Sophia, Ella, Jonathan, Grayson, Emilia, Hayden, Finley, and Harrison.
Born in Richelieu, Quebec, Betty lived a full life and met challenges with grace, strength and determination. Betty was bilingual in French and English and a devoted member of the Anglican faith. She was a successful realtor for over 20 years and prided herself on her knowledge of business and finances. Betty moved to Windsor in 2009 and was a resident at Amica Riverside, where she made friends with residents and staff alike. Betty could often be found with a pair of knitting needles in her hands and used her talents to volunteer with Windsor Hospice; she also knit hats and mittens for hospitals, Windsor Social Services, and the fire victims in Fort McMurray. Of all of her accomplishments, Betty’s greatest source of pride was her family, and she expressed this pride to anyone who would listen.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Association of the Deaf or Windsor Hospice.
Due to current restrictions, a private family service and a burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery, London, ON will be held. A Celebration of Betty’s Life will be held at a later date.
