It is with great sadness that we announce that Mary Elizabeth McClelland (nee French) passed away on Monday, January 14, 2019, after a courageous battle against cancer. Mary passed as she wished to in her room at Bowmanville Creek Retirement Community with her children by her side.
Mary was born on December 18, 1938, and is predeceased by her parents Mary and Howard French. Mary is survived by her dear brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Gerry French; her children Todd (Wendy) McClelland, Bob (Laura) McClelland, Deb (Jim) Pimentel; her 7 grandchildren Jennifer and Julia McClelland, Amy, Eliza and Olivia McClelland, Michael and Matthew Pimentel, and several nieces and nephews.
Mary loved her family and friends, being a teacher, hosting cocktail hours at the cottage, spending time with the card club, and getting to know new friends at Bowmanville Creek. Mom was an example of how to accept what life throws at us with dignity and humour.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 11 at Families First Funeral Home, 3260 Dougall Ave, Windsor, Ontario. Visitation with the family will be available one hour before the service (1:00 to 2:00 pm). Donations to Durham Regional Cancer Center or Metropolitan Hospital in Windsor would be appreciated in lieu of flowers. Donations, well wishes and sharing of memories for this service are being coordinated through Families First Funeral Home.
Mary's children are eternally grateful to the many family members, friends and care-givers who helped make Mom's last few years so wonderful!!
