Dear Nichol Family (written for Mary), to All of You,
Mary Nichol – The Woman I Know
Mary Nichol, the Woman I know, is the mother of my College Best Friend, Roger, who married the awesome Karen.
The Woman I know, when she worked at Sears, and you encountered her, would make time for a small conversation, after a hug and kiss greeting.
The Woman I know, was kind and created a very large 3 storey wedding cake for my wedding, with 2 storey tiers on each side and a water fountain. A large extra slab was stolen that evening from the kitchen at the club - taken somewhere else and enjoyed as well. When Anna and I opened the gift card signed by Mary and Harvey Nichol, in it was written...the cake. Anna and I were in awe.
The Woman I know, since that wedding in 1984, mailed a Christmas card to the D’Alessandro Home, the first to arrive every year for about 30 years.
The Woman I know, would often talk about her Family, a Home filled with Laughter, and for just cause, as she was very proud of each and every one of them. Mary and Harvey had raised a very good family, kind as they were.
The Woman I know, once told me she got an awesome gift from her husband on her birthday, a very expensive table saw or tool kit, that Harvey proudly put in the garage after she opened it. In return, she said, Harvey got for his birthday, a Cuisinart Food Processor, that she displayed in her kitchen. Truly, Humour reined between them. And Oh My, they liked nice things.
The Woman I know, a Home I would visit from time to time, until things got busy. Something I recommend to each of you. Do not get that BUSY. Life is just too short.
Mary was amazing, funny, kind, and her smile and laughter would fill a room with Joy. Mary was more than just the Woman I know. You knew her too.
Now, she is filling another place with Joy and Laughter with her husband Harvey - A truly beautiful couple. I have other stories, as you have many more. I wish you all to share them with each other, and cherish those moments. When Time permits, create more of them to honour your Parents.

With Love for the entire Nichol Family, and my Blessings, Peace
