Obituary for Mary Patricia Louise Paul

It is with relief of the heart, sense of peacefulness to announce the peaceful passing of our mother/grandmother/great grandmother/aunt/sister and friend Mary Patricia Louise Paul (nee Berry) born October 21, 1939. Passed on March 2nd, 2024 at 11:00am, she is heading onto her next journey. Mom fought a fearless fight right up to her last breath. She never complained only if she ran out of candies and her briefs.

Louise was a firm Roman Catholic god-fearing woman who always saw the positive in people. She was legally blind but she could see, she was in pain but she smiled and had a great sense of humour, she had a hard time walking but was very stubborn to ask for help. Mom loved being called Mummsie, or Weezie. Her spirit will forever live on through her favourite mantras HAVE TOO IS THE BEST MASTER/THIS TOO WILL PASS AND WHAT WILL BE WILL BE. Mom we will always hold close to our hearts the privilege on how you touched everyone’s lives.

Louise now sits up in heaven reunited with her family members Virginia McNaughton (sister and partner in crime), Ron Berry (brother) and Mary Louise Gale (her mom), Fred Berry (her dad), and James Paul Sr. (her husband). They are keeping a spot open at the Euchre table and enjoying her 7day casserole!

Survived by her family that she truly cherished through the good times and bad:

Mary Jo Berrill (nee Paul), in a relationship with Gerry Orum. Mom was the wind beneath my wings, beacon of light, quick come back with Gerry and always so strong (thanks mummsie). Grandmother to Jessica Berrill. Mom and Gerry shared a love of Dairy Queen (co-conspirators’).

Dennis Paul, married to Crystal Paul, grandmother to Samantha Paul and great great grandmother to Alexis Paul.

Michael Paul, married to Cindy Oliver Matthews Paul (best Pajama buyer ever!), grandmother to Kristen Ferreira (nee Paul), married to Chris Ferreira, great grandmother to Grayson Ferreira.

Grandmother to Taylor Paul married to Jessica Paul (nee Cervini), great grandmother to Emma, Penelope Paul and newest member to board the SS Paul Cruise Line - Baby Boy Paul – due to arrive in port July 2024.

Suzanne Dorey (nee Paul) married to Marcel Dorey, grandmother to Kenneth Dorey, in a relationship to Rose Maria. Mother to her great grandchildren (Kimber Lee) great grandmother to Oliver Dorey, and Sophia Dorey

James Joseph Paul Jr., grandmother to James Paul (Sarnia) great grandmother to Evalynn-Harding Paul and Coleton Harding Paul.

Life long friend to Connie Berry, adopted niece Lisa Desjardin and adopted nephew Carl Berry.

Mom will be missed by her two immediate family souls and many nieces and nephews. Her wonderful loving/spiritual supportive sister Gladys Charbonneau (nee Berry), and her many nieces and nephews of the Charbonneau clan. Her brother Michael Berry (residing in Brazil). The McNaughton (now deceased Virginia and Jack) clan. Many names of nieces and nephews to be mentioned – they are their own tribe and village. You all made mom feel extremely loved. Thank you for the lovely memories.

The Berry (now deceased Ron and Lou) clan. Residing in the village next door many nieces and nephews to be mentioned. You all embraced mom with warm open arms and love. Thank you for the lovely memories.
Thank you to the staff/management and friends made at Cardinal Place Retirement (Windsor) especially her table mates Dolly and Maureen.

Thank you to the staff/Management at Chartwell Retirement Home (Kingsville). Even though mom was not at Chartwell for very long she made friends very quickly.

Many friends over the years when she worked as a Legal Secretary for Carl Cohen – Paroian Law Firm.

Mom you will always be in our hearts, you will never be forgotten. Who else can we share butterscotch sundaes/cheese burgers from Dairy Queen, Chinese food, a glass or two of wine, our own private jokes and making people laugh. Cherry coke with your special friend at Chartwell. Love you always to the moon and back. We always said “See you”. But now by virtual spirit and energy we are all resting our foreheads together, holding hands, embracing the tears. Our hearts beating as one until the last beat of your heart. Mom until we see each other again sleep, dance, smile, breathe, and rest in peace.

It was mom’s wishes to have her remains cremated – Family First. There will be a Celebration of Life – details will be posted as they become available.
Kindness memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke, CNIB - Canadian Blindness and Arthritis Society Canada would be greatly appreciated.
