Obituary for Neil Kilpatrick Lester

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Neil K. Lester on June 29, 2020 at the age of 80 years.

Beloved husband of Judith for 59 years. Proud and loving father of Sharon Pyke (Allan), Sue Zawyrucha (Larry) and Kurtis Lester (Susan). Loving grandpa to Mike (Amber), Christopher, Rebecca (Sam), Richard (Raquel), Katie (Xavier), Alex, Wesley, Samantha (Isaiah), Rianne (Brandon), Nick and Emma. Step-grandchildren Stephanie (Robert), Spencer, Missi and Seth. Great grandpa to Sophie, Zoey, Jackson, Isaac, Sophia and Kaelix. Survived by brother Tom Lester (Carol), sister Maggie Crilley (Norm), sister-in-law Joanna Corless (late Harry).

Neil served as a cadet in high school, joined the army and later joined the reserves. He retired after 30 years as a detective from Windsor Police Services (WPS). He was a member of the WPS Pipe Band for 52 years distinguishing himself as an award-winning Drum Major with his crowning achievement earning the Overseas World Drum Major Champion in Scotland. He judged for PPBSO and EUSPBA. Neil was heavily involved in the military’s music program for cadets from 1998-2019. Neil was honoured with the Sovereign’s Medal for volunteering in 2018.

On Saturday July 4, 2020 visitation by scheduled appointment only from 2-4 p.m. with a memorial service to take place at 4 p.m. at Families First, 3260 Dougall Ave., South Windsor, 519-969-5841.
