Nicole Chartrand

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Nicole Chartrand (nee Trottier) on September 1, 2020. She left us peacefully and surrounded by family, due to complications from congestive heart failure. She was 71. Nicole is survived by her husband and soulmate, Marcel. They recently celebrated 51 years of love and marriage. Loving mother of Marc & wife Brigitte, Debbie Barrett, and Neil & wife My. Proud Grandmother of Grant, Alex, Nicholas, and Eric. Predeceased by her father Gaetan, mother Fabiola, and sister Micheline. Dear sister of Raymond, Diane, Jacques, Sue, Ginette and Marc. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Nicole loved to cook and bake, kept an immaculate home, and enjoyed a decades-long career as a teacher. A nurturing and compassionate soul, she was a dear friend to all whose lives she touched.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Downtown Mission of Windsor.

I can't believe that I have lost my second sister! This is not what you expect to happen in a family that has prided itself of good health & happiness.

Nicole & I shared many good times growing up. I remember us playing 'Dress-Up' using Mom's clothing & make up. She & I shared the same first career as teachers. The first year of my marriage, I left Kapuskasing to go to Sudbury for the summer of 1966. Nicky & I had enrolled in a summer course @ Laurentian U. where we studied Spanish. We had a chance to bond again & we had so much fun practicing together. In the years to follow, we realized that we agreed on our children's upbringing & were similar in our values. we could talk for hours on the phone & through the night when we visited. I will remember those precious times. It saddens me that the flights weren't manageable & much to my disappointment, I realized that I couldn't be at Nicky's Memorial to celebrate her life. I love you all & wish I were there to hug everyone. Diane xoxo
