Owen Francis Cameron

It is with a broken heart that I announce the sudden passing of my father Owen Cameron 74, of Windsor Ontario. Born in Halifax Nova Scotia, Owen was deeply beloved by his daughters Lynne (Travis) Kelly and the late Cristina Cameron (2009). Cherished granddad of Ethan, Reese and Ashton. Loving best friend of Donna Vollans and her sons Brian Vollans and Mike Potvin and special granddad to Kaila Potvin. Dear brother of Dr. Doug (Judy) Cameron, Marie Hutton and the late Dr. Howard Cameron. Fondly remembered by Betty Cameron (Ferguson) and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Alex and Mable Cameron (McAdam). Owen originally intended to be a teacher and attended Nova Scotia Teachers College.

Following a serious car accident, he moved to Windsor where he worked for and retired from Chrysler Canada, Unifor Local 444. Owen was a very intelligent man who loved to read; he never stopped learning. An ardent animal lover, Owen always had a dog as his companion and will be missed by Marley. He had a magic touch with animals and they always seemed to gravitate to him. Owen loved cars, he enjoyed watching Auto Auctions, and one of his prized possessions was his Shelby Cobra Mustang. He liked computers, fishing, baseball, and was a Detroit Tigers fan. Owen was a great cook. Dad, Granddad, Mr. Owen or sometimes “O”, he was a kind, quiet man who would do anything for someone in need. He had a heart of gold and cared deeply for his family and friends. George Elliston once said “How beautiful a day can be when kindness touches it.” For those close to Owen, his kindness and gentle smile brightened not only a day but the entire lives of those he loved. Our world is a little darker now with his light extinguished and he will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Make A Wish Southwestern Ontario or the Windsor & Essex County Humane Society.

Due to the Health Units requirements to avoid public gatherings, a private visitation and funeral service was held. Interment was held at Windsor Memorial Gardens.
