Obituary for Paul Henri Berneche
March 6, 1959 - June 18, 2023, passed away peacefully at age 64 after a heroic 5-year battle with advanced cancer. Beloved husband of over 40 years to Sherri Berneche (nee Hobbs) and father to Sarah and Laura. Dear brother-in-law to Allan (Robin) and Penny (Frank); brother to Jim (Joanne); and uncle to Danielle (Chris), Michael (Lyndsay), Christina, and Mikaila. Predeceased by parents James and Barbara Berneche and in-laws James and Joan Hobbs. His passing has also left a hole in the hearts of countless cherished friends.
Paul will forever be remembered for his boundless generosity, warm hospitality, offbeat sense of humour, unwavering loyalty, and enduring optimism. In his youth, Paul captained the Amherst High School football team. Throughout his life, he remained a committed and wildly enthusiastic fan of all Detroit sports teams, especially the Lions and the Tigers. While working his way up to becoming one of the top-ranking dairy sales representatives in the province, he enjoyed life to the fullest, which included savouring great food, drink, and music with those he loved. Paul loved watching a game or listening to music in his Tiki Hut, as well as serving up his signature frozen drinks.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the friends, family, and staff who took such good care of Paul and provided so much support during this challenging time.
Visitation will take place at Families First Funeral Home, 585 Sandwich St. S., Amherstburg on Thursday, June 22 from 7-9 pm and Friday, June 23 from 2-5 & 7-9 pm.
Funeral on Saturday, June 24 at 11am. Interment to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
