Obituary for Pearl Gauthier

Pearl passed away peacefully in her own home. She would have happily said, "Just what I wanted". She was clear-eyed about death but torn between leaving her precious family and joining the love of her life Gerry. Her work here was done. She is headed to a wonderful place where she will be greeted by hugs from family and friends she has not seen in a long time. She will dance, laugh, love, knit, puzzle, play cards and read till her heart's content; all without pain. We want you to know she did a great job and wish her a safe journey. We will remember her smile, her warmth, her energy and fierce love for life, family and friends. She made a difference in the lives of many and for this we will be forever grateful.

She has held many titles in her life. She was a devoted daughter and sister, a loving wife, a comforting mother, a dedicated teacher and a true and loyal friend (thank you Laura). But MIMI might have been her greatest title. Jake, Luke, Jessica (Dan), Melissa (Ryan), David (Tami), Michael (Fatima), James (Sabrina), Robert (Brenna), Christina (Brad) and Jenn (Jamie) were her pride and joy. Her love for them was endless. Mom was also blessed with some pretty awesome great grandchildren. She will miss watching Ariana, Olivia, Ava, Haley, Zoey, Alex, Theo, Keegan, Penelope and Brooklyn grow up to be the incredible people they are meant to be.

Her children Michele Derus (Rick), Raymond Gauthier (Darlene), Janice Graber (Cameron) and Annette Chanyi (Steve) will miss her beyond words. She was their rock and the centre of their universe. Rest in peace sweet Mom.

She is survived by her sister Eleanor and predeceased by her brothers George, James and Frank; and her sisters Alice and Veronica. She loved them with all her heart.

There are no buildings named after her; no monuments erected in her honour (yet). But she did have the chance to know and love each and every friend as well as her family members. How much more blessed can a person be?

Please don't cry because she is gone, instead be happy that she was here.

Please note her change of address. Her new place of residence is back with Dad at Heavenly Rest. They are together again and the world is right once more.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you do something nice for somebody else unexpectedly and without explanation. Let's all add more kindness to the world. Mom would have liked this.
