Peter Ashton

Peter Ashton died on August 13, 2020 at 63 years of age. He was the beloved partner of Jennifer. Pete was the proud and loving father of Daryl and Brooke. Proud Granddad of Dayton, Brayden, Leah, Helena and Bradley. Pete leaves behind to mourn him, his twin brother John (Brenda), as well, his sister Christine Larkin (Pete). Predeceased by his parents Kenneth and Madge Ashton. He is also survived by his family of birth; mother Gerry and siblings Debbie, Brenda, Christine, Joanne, Johnny, Bruce and Kathy. Pete will be missed by true friend Ken (“Ninny”). Pete will be missed by a large extended family; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

For the friends who know Pete, the generous, big hearted, animal loving, funny, gracious man that he was, he will always be remembered.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Windsor and Essex County Humane Society would be appreciated by the family.

Pete was my brother-in-law (that sounds so formal, eh) and this is a beloved memory:

Uncle Pete was my daughter Renee's first babysitter when she was only 6 days old. Jen, Julie and i were going out for a coffee 25 years ago, it was my first outing, and Pete agreed to babysit wee Renee (we called her Dawn back then). We left him a bottle but told him to hold off (you know, the whole breast-feeding thing), but when we got back, the bottle was EMPTY, "She was hungry, so she drank the whole thing, and she #$%& everywhere so i had to give her a bath in the sink!" He took such good care of her, has been a wonderful Uncle and Brother-in-law, he called both kids "bags of skin" - you could probably write a dictionary of Pete-isms! Like who doesn't say, "guzinta's" (for 'goes-into' when doing long-division math problems, i.e. 5 goes into 10, 2 goes into 4, get it?) He had his own language! And don't get me started on how nice he was to animals!! Every stray for 20 miles knew Pete Ashton, and hey! let's face it, they knew Jen Remigio too!! Pete's kind heart (and i love the heart felt messages that everyone wrote so far) was enormous - ya, he was kind of quiet sometimes, contemplative, and he did not like the government, and a few other things - i think he just did not like mean people, eh??
Till we meet again Pete!
love, judi
