Obituary for Peter John Murphy

On May 26, 2023 at 89 years of age. Beloved husband of Betty (nee Stalmach). Loving father of Tim (Jeannie), Dennis (Paula), Robert (Julie), Patti (Jeff) and Allan (Christina). Cherished Grandpa of Shane (Tina), Rian (Diane), Katie (Sergio), Kevin, Colin, Alex, Derek, P.J., Sam, Joe, Claire, Maggie, Mac, and Ian. Great-grandpa to Danielle, Scotty, Fay, Shay and Logan. Predeceased by his parents Winnifred and Frederick Murphy. Brother of the late Patrick (Gerri), the late Sheila and Walter, the late Tom and Elaine, Michael and Ann. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Peter was a “power lineman” by trade. He worked for Ontario Hydro for 14 years and Enwin Utilities for 30 years. He was a member of the AKO Fratmen football team that won the Canadian Championship in 1952 and 1954. He played fastball in Windsor for many years and was recently inducted into the Windsor Fastball/Slow Pitch Hall of Fame. He volunteered for Meals on Wheels for 15 years. Peter was a member of the K of C Council #4386 for 63 years including Grand Knight from 2008-2010. He served as Grand Commander for the Order of Alhambra for many years. He was active in the community coaching his sons in baseball and hockey including refereeing basketball and football, and participated in his grandchildren’s activities. He was a member of the Assumption’s Dad club and sang in the choir at Christ the King church. Visitation Tuesday, May 30, 2023 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. with Knights of Columbus prayers at 6:30 p.m. at Families First, 3260 Dougall Ave. South Windsor, 519-969-5841. On Wednesday, May 31, 2023 family and friends are invited to meet after 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church (4401 Mt. Royal Dr.) followed by funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Cremation to follow.
