Obituary for Raffaele Romeo

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Raffaele, who died peacefully surrounded by his family on June 16, 2022, at the age of 84. Raffaele immigrated to Canada from Botricello Calabria, Italy in 1958. Dearest husband to Gina (nee Aiello) for 60 years. Cherished father of Frank Romeo, Maria DiMenna (Angelo) and Tony Romeo. Loving Nonno to Adam, Amanda, Raffaele and Gabriella. Dear son of the late Raffaele and the late Maria Romeo. Brother of the late Gregorio (late Teresa) Romeo of Italy, sister Rosina (late Gregorio) Froio of Italy, Santa (late Rosario) Lepera of Windsor, and the late Giuseppina (late Antonio) Iannone of Italy and Francesco (Giuseppina) Romeo of Italy. Son-in-law of the late Rosina and the late Antonio Aiello. Dear brother-in-law of the late Giuseppe (Giovanna) Aiello of Italy, Lina (late Felice) Sestito of Italy, Rina (late John) Giannotti, of Windsor, Franco and (Maria) Aiello of Italy, Rino (Anna) Aiello of Windsor and Salvatore (Karen) Aiello of Windsor. Also survived by many nieces and nephews in Italy, Michigan and Canada.

Raffaele retired from Chrysler after 36 years of dedicated service. He loved spending time outside in his garden and supplying his family and friends with fresh produce. He enjoyed watching hockey, soccer and most of all Friday night WWE wrestling matches. Sundays were spent gathering with family enjoying homemade wine and a good Italian meal cooked by the love of his life. More than anything, he was a fun-loving nonno and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for his grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Windsor Regional Hospital – Cardiac Care Unit.

Visitation will take place on Monday, June 20, 2022 from 3 – 5 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m. with Parish Prayers at 4:30 pm at Families First, 3260 Dougall Ave., South Windsor, 519-969-5841. On Tuesday, June 21, 2022 the procession will be leaving from the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. for the Funeral Mass at St. Angela Merici Church at 11:00 a.m. Entombment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
