Obituary for Regina Gardonio

December 5, 1936 - February 14, 2024

Surrounded by the love of her family, Regina passed away peacefully on February 14, 2024, reuniting with her forever Valentine, Mario. Loving mother to Don and Roseanna, Tony and Marisue, Claudia and Gary Sylvestre, and Mary (1958). Adoring Nonna of Marco (Emily) Gardonio, Jessica (Stacey) Gardonio, Daniel Gardonio, Kristina (Adam) Smith, Steven (Diane) Gardonio, Melissa (Joseph) Cormier, Eric (Nicole) Sylvestre, Alexandra (Michael) Sylvestre, Andre (Kristie) Sylvestre. Proud Bis-Nonna to Roman, Benjamin, Alexander, Michael, Lucas, Morgan, Cameron and one on the way. Daughter of Sante Facca (1984) and Guilia Bertola (1952), stepdaughter of Matilde Facca (2023). Loving sister to Licia and the late Sergio Santini, the late Anna and Silvano Scodeller, the late Dino (Gerri) Facca, and Gino (late Paola) Facca. Dear niece to Lidia and the late Giovanni Fantin. Regina will also be missed by many nieces and nephews, especially Loretta Santini, who cared for Regina and provided her with companionship over the past several years.Thank you to her sister Licia for her Saturday overnight visits, including reminiscing of the past and delicious dinners.

Regina immigrated to Canada with her family in 1949 from Pordenone, Italy. There she met her late husband Mario (2007) and they built a beautiful life together. Her father, Sante Facca, founded Facca Construction in 1955, where Regina worked alongside Mario for 50 years. Her work in accounting and contract management was instrumental to the company's operation, and she and Mario were incredibly proud to have built a legacy that their children and grandchildren have been able to carry on.

Regina’s family was her most cherished gift. She always ensured that every loved one knew how special they were to her. Fulfilling the family matriarch role to the very end, she would still ask about the well-being of her children and grandchildren, even in her final days. She was our constant source of grace, wisdom, and unconditional love, and we are incredibly blessed and thankful to have had the gift of her love. Regina will be remembered for her generous spirit. She lived her life with an unwavering belief in the Catholic faith and strived to emulate Jesus’ message of love and generosity through her everyday actions. Her passion for gardening and flowers will be remembered through the rose bushes she planted around her home and the homes of her children. We will always think of her when the roses bloom.

Words cannot express how thankful we are to Regina’s compassionate caregivers, including Cathy, Maya, and Silke, for their companionship, incredible care, and love that they have provided to Regina over the years. Special thanks to Gwen and the team at Paramed. Thank you to Dr Price, Dr Rukavina, Dr Gupta and Dr Khan.
