Obituary for Rev. Fr. Lawrence Paré

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Reverend Lawrence (Larry) W. Pare, who went to his Heavenly reward on February 9, 2024, at the age of 93. A devoted servant of God throughout his time as Secretary to then Bishop Gerald Emmit Carter and serving as pastor of the parishes of St. Rose of Lima, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, St. Clare and Our Lady of Perpetual Help (Windsor), St. Simon and St. Jude (Belle River) and Sacred Heart (LaSalle). His education started at Assumption High School in Windsor, continued at University of Western Ontario in London and Human Vitae Brussels, Belgium. He was ordained on June 2, 1956.

Father Larry touched many lives as a skilled orator, engaging storyteller and compassionate leader. His kindness, generosity and empathy left a lasting impression on family, friends, and parishioners. He is eternally reunited with his predeceased parents, Lawrence (Fred) and Leona Pare, his siblings Leo (Lorraine), Maurice (Theresa), Fr. Ulysses (Bud) Pare C.S.B., and Cora Drake (Jack). He is survived by his sister Gerry Koloff (Nickolas, deceased) and his brother, Clarence (Janet, deceased).

He will be sorely missed by Connie Berry and mourned by his many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Sincerest gratitude to Patti McKittrick and the McKittrick family who occupied a very special place in his heart. His family expresses its deepest gratitude to Cardinal Place Retirement Home for the great love and care shown to him these past few years. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 from 7-9pm, prayers at 8pm at Families First Funeral Home, 3260 Dougall Ave., South Windsor, 519-969-5841. Visitation continues at Sacred Heart Church, LaSalle on Thursday, February 15, 2024 from 10 am until time of Mass at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sacred Heart Building Fund.

“Served with great joy and thanksgiving”
