Obituary for Rev. Harry O. Wuerch

Peacefully, knowing he was in God's hands, our beloved dad, Harry Otto Wuerch, graduated to his eternal home in heaven on July 8th, 2022. He will be joining and rejoicing with the love of his life, Joan (predeceased April 26, 2020). Dad was born to parents William and Natalie Wuerch of Lydiatt, Manitoba, as their Christmas gift in 1926. Brother of the late Lawrence (Shirley) Wuerch, late sister Elsie (late Bob) Howson, Raymond (Phyllis) Wuerch, Pearl (Keith) Mills, Bill (late Ann) Wuerch, Art (MaryAnn) Wuerch, brother in law to the late Gordon Ulch (Eva Rankin) and Ken Heuston (Heather).

After marrying his sweetheart Joan (Ulch), Harry worked at Ford Motor Company until answering God's call to the ministry. Dad became the pastor of Bethel Gospel Mission in Cottam for 4 years until being called to pastor at Faith Tabernacle in London, Ontario, where they resided for 47 years. As retirement approached, he became General Secretary to the Independent Assemblies of God of Canada. He and Joan enjoyed distant travels together, but especially enjoyed traveling across Canada to encourage congregations and ordain new pastors. Dad shared in many life journeys and never hesitated to help anyone that God brought into his sphere of influence. Harry will be lovingly remembered by all who knew his warm smile and handshake, his physical strength, strong work ethic, and his kind and gentle spirit. He was a sports fan extraordinaire, especially hockey, baseball & fishing, and loved spending time with family and friends.

He was a devoted husband of 71 years. Dad will be greatly missed by his children Elaine (George) Harron, Dan (Cheryl), Paul (Rhonda), Ruth (Ron) Kelly, Richard (Shirley), and the late Don (Sue) Doherty. He leaves a wonderful legacy of grandchildren (26), great grandchildren (50 +) and great-great grandchildren. Dad, you will be greatly missed, but it's only until we meet again at Jesus' feet.

If you so desire, donations to MREE.ca (Ministry to Russia and Eastern Europe) or Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated by the family. Cremation has taken place. Memorial visitation July 22, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. until time of a Memorial Service at 12:00 p.m. at Families First, 3260 Dougall Ave., South Windsor (519-969-5841). Burial to follow at Iler Cemetery, 790 Dolson Road, Essex.
