Dear Sister Lorraine and all the family: Please accept my most sincere sympathies on the loss of your brother. I was so very sorry to learn of his death, and very much regretted missing the opportunity to pass on my sympathies in person, as I did not learn the sad news until after the funeral. Please forgive me. Years ago, I had the great pleasure of spending a summer in London with Father Joseph and Sister Lorraine with the University of Windsor, taking two summer session English courses. As I write this, the memories are strong: days in the seminar room, evenings at the theatre, visits to the homes of great authors. I remember exploring the streets of London with Father Joseph and Sister Lorraine, and his kind gift to each student of a photo commemorative book of London sights. What a beautiful, enriching experience that was! Life brings us around to the same places, and now my adult daughter lives in London, and volunteers at the home of Thomas Carlyle, one of the authors we studied that summer, and whose house we visited. I myself will be returning to live in London this September to study at Birkbeck College, located across the street from where we stayed that summer at College Hall on Malet Street. Thank you, Father Joe, for your erudition, and the spiritual and compassionate wisdom that you shared with us that summer. I still remember some of your wise words. May your memory be eternal. Love, Georgina

Very sad to hear of Joe's passing. A truly kind man who would ask 'how are you' because he wanted to know and would really listen. As a friend of Sr. Catherine Ferguson, he will be missed by the McKeen and Ferguson families.
