Obituary for Rev. Roy V. Henly

Passed away peacefully on Saturday 8 February, 2020 at the age of 92 years. Born in Coventry, England 1 March, 1927 and was a Freeman of the City of Coventry. Loving Husband of 67 years to Beryl. Devoted Father of Martin and Linda Dunning (late Brian). Doting Granddad of Kaitlin and Amy. Retiring as manager of Facility Engineering for Chrysler Canada. Roy, throughout his life always had time to serve his family, his faith and his community. Roy and Beryl were fundamental members of St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church serving together as Sunday School Superintendents and members of the church choir. Roy served on the Board of Directors, and as Rector’s Warden, People’s Warden, Lay Reader, and then ordained as Deacon. He then went on to St. Paul’s and St. Augustine of Canterbury. Roy was, for some time, treasurer of the Windsor -Essex County Development Commission. He was a Warden of Camp 14 at the University of Windsor’s Engineering School, helping preside at the Iron Ring ceremony. As a member of the Windsor-St. Clair Rotary Club he was awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship. He travelled abroad to represent the YMCA’s International Committee. Roy also coached Intermediate Riverside Minor Hockey and Riverside Minor Baseball. Roy and Beryl were the Skippers of the 3rd Windsor Rover Crew.
