Was very shocked to hear about the passing of Rich. I played softball against Rich for several years, both outdoors and indoors. I enjoyed every time our teams played each other. Rich was gentlemen on and especially off the field.
My deepest condolences to all his family and friends. The local community has lost a really good one.

I was so sorry to hear about your father’s passing. I know this is a very sad and difficult time for you and your family. Losing your dad can be extremely difficult because you are losing a source of strength, stability and consistency in your life
Don’t let the sadness of his death fill your heart. Fill it up with his happy memories instead and keep him alive for as long as you can. , He’ll always be watching over you....always!! He will stay with you forever!!
May God give you all strength to withstand this sudden shock.

My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. In the short time I have known Rich it was always a pleasure to be in his company and enjoyed his outgoing personality. He passionately talked about his love for his beautiful children and enjoyed every moment of life. I am shocked and without words to describe the great loss. From

Rest in eternal peace Rich Renaud. I enjoyed working with this dedicated, professional officer both as a Border Services Officer and, more specifically, in a training capacity back in the early nineties when he was an eager, young whipper-snapper. I have many fond memories of working with him, training our new officers. He was a natural! You will be greatly missed by your CBSA family, Rich. Thank you for your lasting contribution to our wonderful organization. My deepest condolences to both your family and the CBSA family on your passing. From

My deepest sympathy to Rich's lovely children and family. All week I've been feeling an emptiness and this morning I realized why. Driving into the parking lot at work Rich was not there. We often exchanged greetings in the morning. I'll never see him again. I always appreciated his training techniques and his feedback. Rich was a very good "bad guy " during scenarios. I felt that, if I could fight my way through the brick wall that was Rich, I could manage pretty much anything. My heart aches for the three of you. Your father has touched many lives. He was so proud of the three of you. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this very difficult time. God bless. From

Dear Sarah, Olivia, and Jack,
You have my deepest condolences. I am heartbroken. Your Dad was a good friend and I have countless great memories of him; in fact, they are all great. That was the effect he had on you; if you were having a bad day, he had a way to immediately turn it around with his happy-go-lucky personality and approach to life. “So what and who cares?” I once heard him say during what I perceived to be a stressful situation and that has stayed with me - becoming a go-to slogan when I need some perspective.
I will miss our chats about our kids, life, childhood, sports, going to Tiger games (Verlander no-hitter into the 9th!), a beer… or four by the pool and his visits to Ottawa where it was always guaranteed he would make my kids crack up. After his stay, life’s troubles didn’t feel as heavy. On a long road trip to Ottawa for an annual pick-up football game; one thing was made clear, if there was any doubt - which there wasn’t, he simply adored the three of you.
I don’t think your Dad realized how much he helped me out over the years dating back to the early 2000’s; whether it was advice with the kids, getting me on ball teams, charity basketball events (he could still shoot the 3!), the first to email me to welcome me back to Windsor, or making my time in the training centre an awesome experience where we became even better friends. I will miss him very much, but he will live on forever in our hearts as the good ones always do and we will carry with us the biggest lesson he taught us about life; it’s meant to be enjoyed.
You see, you may or may not remember me but what should be clear is that your Dad impacted my life in a very positive way and I can guarantee you, without question, there are many, many others out there who are crushed just the same by his passing. This impact, his joy of life and the three of you are your Dad's legacy.
Peace to his soul,
Jeff Bean

My deepest and heartfelt sympathies to young Jack and his family. I met and got to know Rich as Jack’s basketball coach at St. Rose and at Brennan H. S. Rich was a very personable and sincere friend who loved talking sports, especially basketball. He always had a word of encouragement and support for me as a coach. He will be missed. May he Rest In Peace and May God continue to support his family during this difficult time. From

Richard coached my youngest son in baseball and we came to know him well over the past 3 years. Richard loved to coach. Bottom line. He had no kids on the team...he just loved working with the boys, teaching them the lessons he learned over the years. He always had a "Dad" joke ready for the boys. You have to LOVE coaching to live with 14 twelve year old boys in ONE cabin for ONE week, as he did this past summer at the Cooperstown Tournament. He was a great man with a heart bigger than his forearms. Richard will be sadly missed by the coaches, players and families. From
