Robert Hawkins

The time has come to say farewell to our Dad and Grampa, Bob passed away on September 21, 2020 at 79 years of age. Devoted husband of the late Lillie (nee Chapman) for 51 years. Dear father of Allen and wife Debbie, David and wife Tami and Michael and wife Margaret. Treasured Grampa of Amanda, Britney, Robert, Sydney, Austin, Spencer, Ali, Kate, Paige, Jennifer and Grace. Brother-in-law of June and Jim, Mary and Ed, Connie and the late John, Ruth and Murray. He will also be sadly missed by his extended family and friends. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the staff and residents at Seasons Royal Oak for the care and friendship extended to Bob over the past 5 years. Bob retired from the Windsor Public School Board after 35 years of dedicated service as a teacher.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Parkinson Foundation of Southwestern Ontario or St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church Amherstburg would be appreciated by the family.

A private family service will be held. A livestream of the service will be on Saturday September 26, 2020 at 11:30am.

Dear Hawkins Family,
We support you from afar through this sad time. We are so grateful to God for bringing your dad into our lives. Some of the best memories are sharing meals at your house; BBQs before fireworks at the river. May all these fun memories bring you comfort. Love you always: Dave and Kathy Shuttleworth

I extend my condolences for your loss. My connections with Bob go back many years, to 1967 just before we left for our mission work as a teacher in Zambia. Bob and Lillie had hosted us after speaking to the Calvary United congregation. Many years later, in 1990, we reconnected when I accepted a call as the minister at Roseland Unite Church. My treasured memories of Bob at Roseland are of his participation in the Bible study group where he challenged us to dig deeper into the passages, often to explore unconventional themes. He also led the group when I was not able to attend. In his retirement, I remeber him sharing with me some of the books he was reading and inviting me to read them. Often we had discussions about them. Through these conversations, and as a fellow teacher, I felt I had a close connection with Bob. Hearing of his passing brings back these fond memories. I am grateful that we have shared our life. May his life be remembered for the blessings he brought to many.

Mr. Hawkins was my grade school teacher - many many years ago but I remember him as a kind and creative teacher who taught with excellence. His lessons were always so interesting and inspiring.
