Robert Leo (Bob) Byrne

January 6, 1947-April 12, 2020

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Robert Leo Byrne (Bob) has passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on April 12, 2020 in Windsor, ON at the age of 73. He is survived by his devoted wife of 41 years Diane (nee: Dinham). He was a cherished father to Andrea (Phil), Tyler (Jenn), Shane (Ana), and Megan. He was adored by his grandchildren Sophie, Caroline, Alice, Logan, Sadie, Luke and Jack. He is predeceased by his parents Leo and Catherine and brother, Joe. He will be deeply missed by his sister Judy, sister-in-law Audrey, brother-in-laws Rick (Marilyn) and John, and his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Bob was a crane operator and heavy machinist for over 40 years and respected in his field for his dedication and skill. He was a proud member of Local 793. His upbringing on his family farm fostered a strong, disciplined work ethic. Bob loved sports, especially coaching baseball. He was very involved in the LaSalle Turtle Club for many years.

Bob will be remembered for his loving spirit, infectious sense of humour, friendly personality and generous bear hugs. He was a gentle giant, loyal friend, loving father, devoted brother and son, fun- loving grandfather, and remarkable husband. He was a hard worker who lived his life with great appreciation for his family and loved to lend a hand wherever he could.

Bob was a faithful Catholic, ever hopeful and grateful for his blessings. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Windsor Cancer Center Foundation are appreciated. Special thanks to Dr. Freeman, Dr. Kulkarni and Dr. Hirmiz for their expertise and compassionate care.

Cremation services were held and a Memorial Service will take place at Church of the Ascension at a later date.
