Obituary for Rodney Knight

God called him home peacefully on January 22, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Beloved husband to Suzanne and predeceased by previous wife, Lois. Dear father of Jody, Bill, and Wayne (Brandy). Respected step-father of Carole (David), Lynne (Renaud) and Ray (Emi). Adored by all of his grandchildren: Justin, Kendra, Meagan, Christopher, Kim, Neveah, Austin, Steven, Kevin, Joshua, Jonah, Jesse and Ottavia. Cherished great-grandfather of Lilly, Cash and Jupiter. Will be sadly missed by sister Judy (Jerry) and nieces Charlene (Dan), Robin and Nephew Freddy. Reunited with brother Fred, and parents, Carl and Dale Balch in heaven.

Special thanks are extended to Dr. Pan at the Windsor Regional Cancer Clinic and Dr. Rikivinia and the staff at Hospice for their compassionate care.

A proud autoworker for 34 years (Chrysler), Rod loved to ride his motorcycle and share stories of his childhood growing up in LaSalle and especially of his beloved father. A smile was often on Rod’s face with an offer of beer or some other hospitality, telling of his warmth and generosity. Rod was the most content being outdoors, with his lakefront home being of particular solace to him. Suzanne will miss their morning coffees gazing out at the sunrise from the swing together.

As someone who loved his family wholeheartedly, Rod, too, will be infinitely missed and cherished by his family and friends as someone with a kind spirit, a pure heart and a gentle character.
