Obituary for Roger Brennan

It is with the heaviest hearts that we announce the passing of our dearest Roger Brennan who left us on Saturday after a very brief illness at 67 years young. Roger was a music lover, a traveler, a comedian, a teacher and best of all, he was the greatest husband, father and grandfather to his family. Roger will be forever remembered by the love of his life, best friend and wife Sandy (nee Candusso), his accomplished daughters Erin and Kate, his wonderful sons-in-law Joe De Rose and Kurt Funkenhauser, adored granddaughter Cecilia, his father Harvey, mother Doreen (2014), sister Lorraine, his beloved brother-in-law Ennio and wife Deanna, sister-in-law Claudia (2009), many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. We are all better people for having known and loved Roger. This world has lost a kind, generous and cool soul, but we feel so fortunate to have felt his love for so many years.

Roger was raised in Windsor and met Sandy at 19 years old. Married for 44 years, Roger and Sandy traveled the world together. Roger retired in 2009 after dedicating his life to early childhood education with the Greater Essex County District School Board. In his spare time, Roger loved spending time laughing with family, reading, record collecting, driving his Corvette, helping others and spending time with his littlest and most special best friend Cecilia.

In lieu of flowers, Roger's family kindly asks for donations to be made to W.E. Care For Kids or any children's charity of your choice, to ensure his legacy of helping others lives on.

A celebration of Roger's life will begin on Wednesday, May 29th from 3-5pm and 7-9pm. The celebration will continue Thursday, May 30th with a service at 10am honouring a life well loved at Families First 3260 Dougall Ave., South Windsor, 519-969-5841.

If you choose, in honour of Roger's passion for music, guests are invited to wear their favourite music shirt.
