Whenever I returned to Windsor, I would usually run into Roger while at my parents's house (they're neighbours). I was usually wearing a Pearl Jam or other rock band t-shirt and he would comment on the band and say how great they were or what was his favourite album by them. He told me his favourite album by Pearl Jam was Vitalogy. I'll listen to it thinking of him. Roger was a friendly, wonderful human being. He will be missed. Paul Ferrara and Family

Mr. Brennan was the ECE teacher for both of my boys at John Campbell School. He was a kind, good man who positively impacted my boys. Ironically, on the weekend we were thinking about him at a family dinner. Mr Brennan positively influenced many of his students over the years. I send my thoughts and prayers to your family at this time.

Dear Sandy, Erin and Kate - Roger was always fun to be with. Growing up as cousins, I have great memories of our ad hoc hockey games, Roger's sense of humour during the games, I appreciated his low key approach to winning and losing, his playing goal. He was always always friendly and happy to see us when we visited. We had some great camping with Uncle Harvey. I am so very sorry for your loss, I know he shall be missed esp. by those close to him. May he Rest in Peace. Cousin (deacon) stephen and Joyce

Mr. Brennan was my JK teacher, and funny enough may be my first clear memory of school as a child. I remember him making me feel comfortable in such an uncomfortable situation for a 4-year-old. Just last week my first child, Jack, went to his JK open house - he's starting JK this September. My parents reminded me of how Mr. Brennan always allowed me 'creative flexibility' in participating in class activities. There was one day in particular where the class was making paper baskets as an art project, and of course the teachers had prepared for students to complete the exercise in a very specific way so that the outcomes would be similar. I was insistent on doing it a different way, and Mr. Brennan actually deliberately let me explore. Well it turned out that my way was a bit easier, and faster and Mr. Brennan ended up adopting it for future classes! It was a neat example of letting kids be kids, and allowing them to explore their own path vs. forcing them to do it in the way that you'd want. I use this as a reminder to myself when I'm with my own two kids today. Just this past year I became a teacher at Western University, and I couldn't be happier. I attribute my positive memories and impressions of my past teachers in part to Mr. Brennan who was my first true encounter with a teacher in public school. I hope that Mr. Brennan's wife and children have a chance to read this because the way that I remember him is the way that I'd want to be remembered as a teacher, and the legacy he left, and the way I remember and speak about him is what I hope people will say about me one day. It should make you very proud to have been a part of his life.

I first met Roger when he was the ECE in my little brother's JK class. I talked with him every afternoon when I went to pick him up. He was always the warmest, friendliest person in the school. Years later, when I did a co-op placement in the kindergarten room at John Campbell, he was still the ECE there. He became a mentor to me, and I learned a lot from him. Mostly, I learned how important it is for children to have a positive male role model in the early years, and that men can be ECE's too. I likely would never have gone into ECE and led the career that I have, if it were not for Roger and the kindness, compassion and patience he brought to the classroom every day. I was really hoping I'd run into him some day, and I could share the news of my new job teaching future ECE's, and thank him for his guidance and influence that led me here. He will be greatly missed, but I'm thankful for having known him, and for all that he taught me. I know the impact he had on my life is echoed by many others, and I'll always strive to be like him.

With deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Roger Brennan for your loss. I was fortunately introduced to Roger & his wife Sandy, through my son-in-law & daughter Andy & Jodi Mills. There was an excursion taken with Roger & Andy's brother Bernie & myself to Detroit & Chrysler Tech Center. At the time we seen some future Chrysler models & displays. Roger was very enjoyable talking about different music agendas, & really impressed me with his personal collections. He liked the auto displays & was a joy to travel with. I know, that many of those who knew Roger will have good memories, and those memories are ours to treasure. Rest in Peace Roger! With Gods' Love Don McMinn

Mr. Brennan was my very first teacher, and within a week of beginning school, I knew I wanted to be a teacher just like him; nearly thirty years later, I am. To say he influenced my life is an understatement. He was by far the kindest, most patient, caring, and accepting mentor I've ever had, who inspired in me a lifelong love of music and literature. My condolences to his wonderful family, especially to Mrs. Brennan. May his spirit of musical kindness continue in all our hearts forever.

I was very saddened at the news of Roger's passing. It was an honour to have Roger as a friend. Roger was always upbeat and had an enthusiasm for life. He was kind and always ready to help out. We shared an interest in music and cars. When we last spoke he had hoped to get the Corvette out for a spin. I think Roger would agree that he had a great life with a great family and friends. It would have been nice if he could have been with us just a bit longer. Roger, you will be greatly missed.

A vous tous, I am still shaking from this awful news, and I cannot believe it's really happening...I remember how I first met Roger, I was 15 years old, spoke a very bad english but he was so patient to me. And of course his love for music, we spoke about it so many times , this basement full of vinyls...where I played on his guitar when I was a teenager. He was one of the kindest person I have ever known. He was my uncle from Canada. Je vous embrasse tous très fort. I wish I could be there. Virginie

Dear Brennan Family, Mr. Brennan has always had a special place in our hearts since our daughter entered his classroom in 1993. He was a phenomenal educator who has impacted so many children. In 2013, we ran into him at the University of Windsor's graduation and even after all these years, he took time out to talk with our family and to take a photo with our daughter. More recently, I've had the pleasure of seeing him at Dollarama on a regular basis and he always brightened my day and took the time to chat. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Mr. Brennan will be greatly missed.

To the family and friends of Mr. Brennan, I was deeply saddened to hear of Mr. Brennan's passing as he has had such a huge impact on my years as a student and now a teacher myself. Mr. Brennan was my ECE teacher at John Campbell during the 93-94 school year. He was the most kind hearted, caring and selfless individual and he made the transition into kindergarten that much easier on the students and parents who walked through his classroom doors. Each and every person who was taught by him is a better person because of it. I hope to one day live up to the amazing role model he was and will always be for so many. He is the staple of what an educator is and we are all better people for having known him. My thoughts and prayers are with your family during this difficult time.

Roger was my lifetime friend. We met at St Clair College and became inseparable. Our antics were legend. Roger was the true definition of 'friend' and with Sandy we became family. Words cannot describe our pain and loss. Roger was gentle, kind, funny and always giving of himself. He and Sandy were there for John, my family, especially my mother, and me from day one. Their nature was to give without asking for anything in return. Sandy and girls, I wish I had the words to ease your heartache. Please know you are loved and surrounded with family and friends who will wrap you in their arms. We love you all very much. John and Barney Jean

Dear Sandy, Erin & Kate; My sincere condolences to you and your extended family on your loss. My friend for over 30 years, I remember meeting Roger in the best of places, a record store. What could be more appropriate. I sold him records, attended many a concert with him and his girls, discussed music and shared a love for many of the same bands. I will always remember him for his friendship and mostly for his boundless support of my radio show. He was our biggest supporter. And it means the world to me. I paid tribute on the show last night with a set of some of his favourite bands and songs, even though I couldn't muster the words. Rest in peace my friend. You will be missed.
