Peacefully on October 3, 2023, at the age of 88. Predeceased by his loving wife Katherine Beger (2023) and his first wife Eleanore Malkin (2006). Cherished father of Melanie Malkin and husband Chris Patten. Loving grandfather of Amber and Rachel Patten. Ron will be lovingly remembered by his step-daughters Sue Beger and husband Matt Ewing, and Kara Long and husband Mark. Predeceased by his parents, William and Gwendolyn Malkin as well as his brother Gordon Malkin (1950).


Ron was born in Kingston, Ontario on July 5, 1935. He grew up in Windsor and graduated from Kennedy Collegiate Institute in 1954. He obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture from Michigan State University in 1958. Ron served in the US Army as well as the Canadian Cadets. Ron started his career as a teacher at W.D. Lowe and William Hands High School. For the majority of his career, he served as the Department Head of Landscape Horticulture at St. Clair College. Ron was an honoured lifetime member of the Downtown Windsor Lions Club. He was also a proud, active member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. Ron was always happiest outside, getting his hands dirty in his garden or grooming his yard. His family was his greatest passion, especially his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.
