Ruth-Ann McGhee-Steffes (Ruta Danute Januska)

Born March 29, 1948, Winnipeg, Manitoba

After heroic battle, enduring cancers since 2010, on November 12, 2020 Ruth passed away in her sleep. Predeceased by her husbands William (Bill) (1981) McGhee and Robert (Bob) (1994) Steffes. Loving mother to her children; Dawn McGhee; Robert (Sue) McGhee; and Mary Steffes. Adored grandma of David, Julie, and Steven McGhee. Cherished sister of Arunas (Nancy) Januska, Birute (Betty d. 2012) Januska and infant sister Ruta (d. 1945). Aunt to Michael (Laurie) Januska; Julie (Mark) Vickers; Great Aunt to Charlotte Januska; Geoffrey and Abbey Vickers.

Ruth was previously employed by the City of Windsor and The Royal Bank. She gave to her community and was a past Volunteer for the Windsor Symphony Orchestra, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Meals on Wheels with her late husband Bob and the Right to Life Association.
Ruth will be remembered as a talented cook, quilter and gardener who was proud of her Lithuanian heritage performing as a folk dancer in her younger days.
Our mom is in inspiration and a survivor, first diagnosed in 2010 with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma and Breast cancer in 2016 she bravely fought her illness for over 10 years. Our family wishes to thank Adriana Cmarada, her RN, for her compassionate care.

Donations to Windsor Essex County Cancer Centre Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
