Sally Jane (Malott) Black

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Sally Jane Black (Malott) after a valiant battle with cancer on April 13, 2020, at the age of 82.

A warrior with the courage of a lion in the face of adversity, Sally was a woman of great strength, beauty and intelligence. A singer of songs, a lover of horses and jazz, a woman of many talents, she painted, wove, gardened, knitted and literally helped her husband build their Kingsville home on the side of a hill with her bare hands.

She loved her family fiercely, first and foremost, including her adoring husband of 66 years, John Black (“my Johnny”) and her children: David Black (Judy), Susan Compter, and Jennifer Ammoscato (Ezio).

Beloved Grandma to Jessica (Brett) O’Connell, Jonathan Black, Jesse Compter, Dante Barone, and Christian Barone (Chantel). Momma to her beloved African grey parrot, Lily.

Predeceased by parents Howard and Jane Malott and by her cherished son, Bradley (1956).

The family wishes to extend its deepest gratitude to the incredible doctors who cared for Sally, including Dr. Elfiki and Dr. Freeman. Nurses Diana, Kim, Rose, Melissa, Shakeella, Janine, and Cheryl were among her many angels of mercy. Private celebration of life will be held in August.

If you so choose, donations made to Windsor & Essex County Cancer Centre Foundation or the Windsor Essex County Humane Society would be appreciated by the family.
