Obituary for Salvatore Provenzano

Peacefully, surrounded by his family on November 11, 2022, at 85 years of age. Beloved husband of 64 years to Giovanna. Loving and devoted father of Francesco (Kelly), Antonella (Jim) Borrelli and the late Rocco (2012). Cherished Nonno to Michael (Julia) Borrelli and Tory Provenzano. Treasured Bisnonno to Brody Borrelli. Predeceased by parents Francesco and Immacolata, and siblings Antonia (Giuseppe) Pellegrini, Rocco (Carmela), Vicenzina (Rocco) Munno, Carmela (survived by Raffaele) Facchineri, Maria (Peppino) Valente, Rita (Ottavio) Travo, Vincenzo (survived by Maria), Vittorio (survived by Carmela). Dear son-in-law of the late Antonio and Teresa Frangione. Dear brother-in-law to Pierino Frangione, late Nicola Frangione, late Rosetta (late Lino) Lento, late Francesco (Maria) Frangione and late Maggiorino (Maria) Frangione. He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and extended family in Canada, US, Italy, and Argentina.

Salvatore came to Canada in 1962 from Amantea, Italy with a dream of making a better life for his family. Leaving the only place he had ever known as home, moving to a new country and unable to speak the language must have been daunting. However, he realized his dream by working as a carpenter where he specialized in finish Carpentry, built all his family homes and started his own company, “Sam’s Home Improvement”.

He spent many hours enjoying his garden and took great pleasure in sharing its bounty with family and friends. All the work involved in making homemade tomato sauce, sausages, soppressata, and wine was only worth the effort if it was shared with family, friends, and neighbours. Salvatore was happiest when he was helping anyone in need. His love, devotion, and kindness will not be forgotten.

Special thanks to Dr. Ian Mazzetti, Dr. Singh, PSW Linda, Erie Shores Health Care - Leamington, HDGH – Emara Centre for their wonderful care and support.

If you so desire, donations to Defeat Duchenne Canada https://defeatduchenne.ca/donate/ would be appreciated by the family.
