Obituary for Sam Griffin

May 21, 1938-November 14, 2022

Sam passed away peacefully at home and is finally free of pain that was his constant companion.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Rosaline (2010) and his 2 daughters, Julie (2017) and Trudy (1995). He is survived by his sister, Phoebe, Belfast, Ireland and lovingly remembered by a large circle of friends, including his ‘coffee buddies’.

Sam and Rosaline emigrated from Northern Ireland in 1960 and had a dream to build a wildlife garden, which they started in 1970. Today, it is a beautiful retreat with an amazing pond, paths and various varieties of plants and trees that attract many species of birds. Sam and Rosaline were proud members of the LaSalle Horticultural Society. Their garden, their pride and joy, won 3 awards.

They were dog lovers and together they raised several 4-legged friends, including Sam’s current faithful and loyal companion, Duke.

Donations in Sam’s memory can be made to “The Salvation Army” or to “Hearts Together for Haiti”. Sam would be so happy to know that his sponsorship for his child in Haiti would continue.

Sam’s final wish was to be reunited with his family, together, at last.

Rest in Peace, dear friend.

Cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to Families First, South Windsor, 3260 Dougall Ave (519-969-5841). A private interment will be held at a later date.
