Obituary for Sam "Sarkis" Younan

75 years old. Born in Tourza, Lebanon.

Passed away January 10, 2024, after a brief illness. Beloved husband of Anne Marie (Poirier). Cherished father of Chris (Alba) and Tami (Darrin). Proud grandfather of Samantha, Jonathan (Christine), Emilie, Natalia (Brian), Timothy, Kyle, Allison, Erika and Mia. Predeceased by his parents Youssef (1995) and Badiha (2006), brother John (1993) and sister-in-law Amalia (2008).

Sam also leaves behind siblings Mason (Barbara), Louie, Mike (Kathy), Theresa, Tom (Tammy), George (Marlene), Dan (Marion), Paul (Rosanna) and Mary (Pat), sister-in-law Margaret Kapasi, many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Over the years Sam wore many hats, from starting in the restaurant business to moving to the world of real estate and construction. He was the proud owner of SCY Realty Ltd and SCY Infinity Homes. With each new career, he poured constant energy and commitment, always leading by example. He saw new ventures as an opportunity and a challenge, always wanting to learn more.

Sam’s most treasured moments were when he was spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He loved cooking for his family, sitting by the campfire, gardening, and travelling up I75 to the cottage, stopping at Big K, Meijer, Aldi’s and Sam’s Club along the way.

Sam was strong in his faith and eagerly wanted to talk and share with his family.

Dad fought the fight with every ounce of energy. Our immeasurable sadness is only comforted as we know he has been welcomed home. Sam and John are together again.

Thank you to all the health care professionals who did their best to help Sam. A special thank you to the Bayshore nurses, especially Ella, Windsor Regional Hospital staff, especially the amazing nurses, and all staff and volunteers at Transition To Betterness Palliative Care Unit.

Thank you to all of our family and friends who have been a constant support during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Transition to Betterness would by appreciated.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, January 14, 2024 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9pm at Families First Funeral Home, 3260 Dougall Ave., South Windsor. 519-969-5841.
