Obituary for Shirley Ann Antaya (nee Vodarek)

Passed away peacefully on April 10, 2024 at the age of 86.

Now reunited with Peter, her beloved husband of over 61 years. Loving mother of Peter James (Karen), John Paul (Michele), Mark Edward (Collette), and Lisa Marie (John) Fransen. Treasured Meme of Nicole (fiancé Matt) and Michael Antaya, Sara and Amanda Worden, Sean (Crystal) Antaya, Jacob, Benjamin and Rachel Antaya, Matthew and Andrew Fransen. Proud great-grandma of Nicholas and Violet. Beloved daughter of the late John and Mary Vodarek. Dear sister of Thomas (Carolyn) Vodarek, Robert Vodarek, Mary Lou (late Robert) Matheson, and the late Richard Vodarek. Sister-in-law of Susan Vodarek (Stephan deCaen). She will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She was a Registered Nurse and volunteer with a number of organizations such as: Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation, March of Dimes, C.W.L., and more. As children arrived, she left nursing to dedicate her life to family. Her steady presence allowed her husband and children to pursue their aspirations. A phenomenal baker, Shirley always had multiple selections of desserts and treats available.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Shirley may be made to the Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation or to the Hospice of Windsor.
