Obituary for Sosamma "Susie" Thomas (nee David)

Passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord on August 16, 2019 at the age of 75 years. Adored mother of Joslyn Varughese and husband Manu, and Jessie Thomas. Proud ammache (grandmother) of Joshua Varughese. Dear sister of the late Kunjamma Mathai and spouse Mathai Varghese, David Thomas and spouse Sosamma, Thomas Skaria and spouse Saramma, Mariamma David and spouse P.C. Thomas, and David George and spouse Mariamma. Survived by many nieces and nephews.

Sosamma immigrated to Canada from India in 1976 to find a better life. She worked for many years as a nurse in India and she worked as a seamstress at General Motors. She lived for, and made many sacrifices for, her daughters and for her family. The life she lived and the examples that she left were centered on her Christian Faith. Her unwavering faith and steadfast love for Father God was evident in how she led her life and in how she extended her hand in welcoming others. Her empathetic heart and her beautiful soul helped care for the ill and for those in need. With her new found wings, she is now happy and at peace, regaining her voice and mobility, and resting in the beloved arms of our Father God and reunited with her loved ones that have passed on before her. She is deeply loved and she will be dearly missed.

Our family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Erie Shores Healthcare in Leamington, and all of the supporting ALS agencies in Windsor and London for the amazing care they provided for our mother. A special thanks specifically to Sharon Colman from the ALS Society of Windsor and Essex County for all of your compassion and care. We would also like to thank the Hospice of Windsor for their guidance and support, especially Linda Sabatini, Alexandra Katzenberger, Kristi Holmes-Souci, and Pas. Susan Harrison. Finally, thanks to everyone at Parkwood Gospel Church for your spiritual guidance and prayers.
