Obituary for Tadeusz "Ted" Stanczak

Ted died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on September 5, 2019 at 91 years young. Ted was born March 28, 1928 in Puzieniewicze, Poland. Beloved husband of Jadwiga for 55 years. Loving father of Ann (Frank), Yolanda (Mike), Chris (Laureen), and Mark (Niki). Dear Dziadek of Kayla, Ryan, Austin, Savanah and Keegan. Beloved brother of Lodzia and Julius. Predeceased by his parents Antoni and Pelagia and his brothers Karol and Jan. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews.

Ted was just 12 years old when he and his family were taken away from their home and sent to Siberia during WWII. He spent the war years in a Siberian labour camp. His journey took him from Siberia to Persia via boat to Africa and then again to England where he worked after the end of the War. Ted did not speak about his difficult upbringing and harrowing experiences during the war. He instead focused his attention on his faith in God, his family and the future. Ted moved to Canada in 1954. He met Jadwiga in 1963 in Warsaw, Poland and they had 4 wonderful children. Ted was a man of great vision who inspired all of those who met him. He was extraordinarily proud of his Polish heritage. He loved Canada and appreciated all of the opportunities that it afforded to him and his family. He was a dedicated and loyal worker at Canadian Engineering. After his retirement, Ted remained active delivering the local newspaper in his neighbourhood and being involved in the Polish Community and Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He was a proud member of Zwiazek Polakow w Kanadzie. Ted was passionate and loved to sing in the church choir which he joined when he first arrived in Windsor. You could hear his voice ringing out during Sunday Mass. But most importantly, Ted was most passionate about his family and enjoyed having everyone together. He was a very kind and gentle soul with a loving and generous heart and was always willing to give to others.

Thank you for sharing your life with us, without you, we would not know the love of God for us. You were a blessing in our eyes. We thank the Lord for sharing you with us. He has given us a great gift that we will never forget. May God bless you and hold your hand in Heaven until we meet again.

Special thanks for all the care provided by the staff at Hospice, SEH, VON and especially Wendy from Paramed.

If you so desire, donations to Holy Trinity Church, Hospice of Windsor or the Windsor & Essex County Cancer Centre Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
