The Reverend Ronald Douglas Sharpe

Our beloved Ron passed away on February 19, 2020. He was born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, the fourth of five children. The family home in Pictou, N.S. held many great memories. His mom’s cooking and baking skills were passed on to her children. Ron loved to cook, bbq and could make the best pies and bread. He enjoyed playing sports, especially playing first base in baseball and as goalie in ball hockey with the “Boys Brigade”. He has so many fond memories of all the boys of Pictou whom forever remained in his heart.

After obtaining his Bachelor in Business from Acadia University, N.S., Ron wanted to be an accountant and drive a Porsche. Despite this, Ron could not ignore the call God had placed on his life since at the age of 15, he had preached his first sermon and was called into ministry. Ron graduated from Knox College with his Masters of Divinity. As a student he served in Vankounet, Listowel and Alvinston. During his summer in Alvinston he met his wife Kirsty.

Together they ministered in Mount Brydges, Welland, Whycocomagh, and Windsor, ON.

Ron’s faith was the most important thing to him. His passion for helping people, leading them to the Lord, his love of learning, preaching and teaching was apparent in everything he did.

Ron loved his family, his wife of 24 years Kirsty (nee Roberts) and children Nathan and Benjamin. He was the loving brother of David (Kim), Donna (Bruce), Susan (late David), and Diane (Henry). He was predeceased by his parents Doug and June Sharpe. Son-in-law of David and Isobel Roberts and brother-in-law of Sharon (Rich). He will be sadly missed by his nephews and nieces: Jonathan, Matthew, Brandon, Charlotte, Gillian and Carson.

Ron had an exuberant personality. He loved to be around friends and family, playing practical jokes, cards, camping and being on the water. He enjoyed his quiet times reading, building WWII models or painting houses for his Christmas Village. At times he was the biggest kid.

Our family is grateful for the love and support of friends and family from around the globe who have journeyed with us and prayed relentlessly. Thank you to the many doctors, nurses and medical staff along this journey. Adrianna, who has become part of our family. To the Hospice for your outstanding care to both Ron and our family.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Presbyterian Reformed Ministries International (Prayer House) -https://www.prmi.org/give2prayerhouse or Feeding Windsor would be appreciated by the family.
