Condolences & Donations

Rosemary....I apologize for sending this out later, but wanted to still express my deepest sympathy to you and the family. Tom was a man that other men (friends, team mates, coworkers) looked to for direction and often used him as a model for their decisions as well as a friend to share experiences with. I certainly did and am a better person for my time with him. Although separated as we took different paths, it was always a pleasure to visit him at work and try to catch up in the few minutes we had. From personal experience, I know it's a whole new world currently and there's no opportunity to share our stories and emotions....perhaps soon. May friends and family provide some solace as time attempts to heal.

On March 2nd I lost a dear friend of 65 years, “Murf” left us all suddenly that day bringing great sadness to his family, and vast number of friends and acquaintances. The news of his passing weighed heavily on me, and I couldn’t help but think of the length of time we’ve know each other and the life we had together. From the time I met him at the age of about 5, the next 18 years of our life were spent in constant contact building a lasting friendship, we were joined very early by two great friends, Ann Margret, and Tim, and together the 4 of us had a childhood that a Hollywood script writer couldn’t capture, we ruled the world and enjoyed each other’s company immensely as true friends during those halcyon days of the late 50’s & 60’s learning of life as we grew up together.

Knowing someone for 65 years isn’t uncommon, remaining good friends with them for that length is rare. While time and distance, reduced greatly our constant contact over the last 45 years, it didn’t affect the friendship, on every occasion we had to meet, a beat was never skipped, we were back together in time, friends again with no awkward pauses or lulls in conversation, and when the 4 of us were together we once again ruled the world and often had to pause to catch our breath from laughter.

I will truly miss “MURF” just knowing he was there was always comforting. My condolences to you Rosemary and your children & grandchildren, I can feel the sadness you must all have as I’m certain he was as good a partner, father & grandfather, as he was a friend to so many of us.
The Roseland Rats will ride again “Murf” Rest in Peace, we will all meet again.

Such a sad time to lose a great guy and good friend. Murf may be gone but he will never be forgotten. We are sure he's in Heaven booking tee times for the annual Turkey Open and waiting to greet all of us at the pearly gates when our times come. Thanks for the great memories, Murf. In honor of you, we will have a "shot for the boys."

So very sorry to read of Tom’s passing. I remember him as the supportive big brother to his sisters and a cherished son to his parents. I am sure that wonderful trait continued as a husband, father and grandfather.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
