To Dear Art, Cheryl, Greg, Doug, Jeff, and Family, I was so saddened to hear of Val's passing. Though I never met her, I feel like I knew her. We corresponded a lot in the late 1980's regarding the Seccombe family history - Val was my late grandmother Beatrice Brown nee Seccombe's first cousin. I always looked forward to receiving her Christmas letter with news of all the Hemstreet happenings. The world has lost a great lady and I know that she will be sadly missed. The gates of memory are never closed. Sincere condolences, your cousin, Lloyd Dodd

Hello Jeff, Doug and Art, I haven't been in contact, but thought of you often especially when I heard that your Mother was ill. Hope this finds you as well as you can be given the circumstances and that in time, God will help you find comfort and peace in the knowledge that Val is in a much better place. Peace! Steve Fields

Dear Art, Cheryl, Greg, Doug and Jeff: My deepest condolences on the loss of your wife and mother. I have many fond memories of her love of life, kindness, understanding and devotion to all of you and your many friends. Mrs. Hemstreet was a wonderful parent when we were teenagers and throughout my adult life although I moved far away, we kept in touch with annual Christmas cards and met on a couple of special occasions when I was in Ontario. I am sorry for your loss and you will all be in my thoughts today, tomorrow and in the coming days. Chris Seger

So very sorry to hear of the loss of your wonderful Mum. She was a very special lady and I have very fond memories of her and all of your family, for that I thank you. Remember in this difficult time, that the Lord looks down upon our broken hearts and gently hands them to His newest angel - and she forever cradles them in her loving arms as she did when she was with you. May God bless you all and I will keep you in my prayers for your continual healing. God Bless, Barb Michaels(Tonkin)

Val was a great friend, to the point, without beating around the bush. I well remember our first association when we traveled to Jeff and Sue's wedding as the unknown guests. Val and Art met us at Toronto Airport, sight unseen till a little lady with a Kiwi and NZ flag poked me in the ribs, Val had recognised us. From that point on we have included the Hemstreets as family, Val will be sadly missed, being so far away and unable to support Art and family weighs heavily with us. Only yesterday I bought a card which we were going to send to Val, we will do so as our respect for a brave lady, yes she did speak with me on personal matters, I did know her very well and she will be sadly missed our love and condolences Noeline & Edwin Munro

Even though we knew how ill she was, hearing the sad news of her passing was very upsetting. Vanessa was telling me how much she liked Mrs. Hemstreet and what a proper lady she was and how sad she is for Mr. Hemstreet. We all feel the pain and sorrow, but she has left all of you with much to be cherished. Please know that our hearts break for all of you, and that our prayers are with you. Love, Duncan, Lucille, Vanessa & Emily
