Vera Holsey

Our Grand Matriarch has chosen to go join her Hewy and Bonnie, Uncle Pat and many more, what a glorious reunion that will be. Mom died peacefully at Hospice of Windsor, surrounded by her loved ones on January 14, 2020 at 90 years of age.
A loving soulmate of Hewitt`s for 58 years. A loving mother of Brenda Sheriff (Jay), Sue Gosnell (Ken), Caroline Watts (Tom) and the late Bonnie Penny (Phil). Precious mom of Susan Lucas (Bubee) and Lisa Lesperance (Steve). Sister of Annie Shinkar, the late Olga Bondar, Kaye Mitchell (special friend) and Alex Chistoff (Baldy) (dear brother). Special, precious, Gramma of Jackie Sheriff (Mike), Faye Gosnell (Burt), Tara Penny, Taylor Penny (Mitch), Justin Storrey (Kayla), Jocelyn Storrey (John), Jordan Watts and Justin Watts. A really Great Gramma/Gigi of Brooke, Keegan, Vada and Delilah. Special aunt of Sandy Helmkay (Syd) of Humboldt, SK. Dearly missed by many nieces and nephews.
The legacy that our wonderful Mother left us is; nothing is more important then family, love one another and hold each other close; friends are an essential part of family; live life fully while you are young and healthy; food is an expression of love; party and dance like no one’s watching.
Mom’s last weeks at Hospice were reflective of her entire life. Family and friends gathered and reminisced. Old family movies were watched together. A few drinks were shared. We celebrated Mom’s 90th together, a hallmark, she had wished to achieve. We laughed, we cried, we surrounded her with love as she had done for each of us all her life. Her hands and heart made our house a home, as we were all growing up. Her delicious food was a love offering to us all. Her creativity gifted each and every one of us. Her love of family gatherings that were silly, fun and just a great way to party, made her and all of us very happy. Mom worked hard all her life, from tobacco fields, to renovations to each of our homes, to maintaining her beautiful gardens. Her hands were her hearts expression.
We will miss you Mom for all that and more. You were the keeper of our memories. Your library of pictures are a reflection of a life well and fully lived. We hope to do you proud and continue those traditions. Mom, after 90 years as a hard working Trojan, we wish for you now to Soar with the Butterflies.
Dr. Price will forever have our deepest gratitude. Our mother also thought the world of him. The entire team at Hospice were the very best. The care our mother & we as a family received, was exemplary. Thank you to all.
