Obituary for Vern Ernest Lucier

Vern passed away on October 15th, 2023, at 5:19pm, after a week-long hospitalization and battle with pneumonia. He was surrounded by his loving family in both body and spirit and is now reunited with his parents, Ernest and Francis, and extended family members who predeceased him.

Vern was the loving and devoted husband of Pauline (Bezaire), father of Kevin Lucier (Anna), and Karen Hill (Bob). He was the very special Pipi of Jordan and Connor Lucier, and Evan and Liam Hill. He was predeceased by his brothers Leonard and Maurice. Vern is survived by his loving sister Delores (Mark), brother Jerry (Mary-Anne), and foster siblings Veronica (Andy), and Harlan.

Vern thoroughly enjoyed his retirement years after long-time careers at Chrysler and the Windsor Board of Education where he cultivated many longtime friends and colleagues who loved and appreciated his loyal service.

Vern loved his yard and meticulously maintained it in impeccable condition. In fact, he could be seen riding his lawnmower until a few days before he was hospitalized.

However, Vern’s greatest joy in life was to spend quality time with his four grandchildren -Jordan, Connor, Evan, and Liam. Visits with Pipi were always very special and filled with laughter, wonderful talks, a drink or two, and plenty of fun. His devotion and love for his family was evident in all that he did.

Vern’s family would like to extend very special thanks to his lifelong best friend, Joe Kitka (Doris), and partner in crime, Eric Laub (Mary Ann).

Finally, Vern was compassionately attended to by a myriad of health care professionals of the Windsor Regional Hospital (Ouellette Campus), and devoted family doctor, Dr. Bill Piganelli. Tremendous thanks to all for the extraordinary love, care, and support.

Memorial tributes in Vern’s honor may be made to St. Joseph Church or the Canadian Lung Association.
