Obituary for Vincenzo "Vince" Bruno Rosati

It’s with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Vincenzo “Vince” Bruno Rosati.

Beloved husband to Olivia (Persiconi) for 54 years.

Loving father to Tony (Rae-Anne) and Nick (Chantel).

Adoring Nonno to Vince Jr (Bianca), Olivia, Johnny (Maia), Maria, Sofia and Nicolas.

Pre-deceased by his parents Nicola and Maria, sister Antoinetta (Giuseppe) DeFilippis, in-laws Virginio and Angela Persiconi and brother-in-law Antonio Santili.

Survived by sister Clara Santili, sister-in-law Rita (Fred) Hench, brother-in-law Leonard (Cheryl) Persiconi, and Katie Craig.

Zio to many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

At the young age of 18 with a dream, a suitcase, and $85 in his pocket, Vince made the 2 week long journey to Canada and arrived on Saint Anthony’s Day, June 13, 1963. From his roots in Pastena, Italy, to building a dream block by block, his partner in life and loving wife Olivia was always by his side. What Vince and Olivia started in an apartment closet, Rosati Group, has grown into a second-generation leader in design-build construction and real estate development. Vince’s story and hardworking spirit, love and dedication to his family created a legacy for his children, and grandchildren.

Family is what Vince held most dear to his heart. He always talked of fond memories of bringing his two boys to his construction sites and was so proud to share that with his family. Although Vince officially “retired” in 1999, he never left the office. He loved hearing about the new projects in the works and was truly proud of what the company they started represents in the City. He was proud of every team member in the company and built many friendships that have lasted a lifetime. He is now back with his best friend and right-hand man, Frank Morrone (2020).

When he stepped back from the business, he embraced his family even more. There was not a grandchild’s hockey game, soccer game, dance recital, birthday party or any event that he and Olivia would miss.

Vince was lucky enough to have the same memories with his grandchildren of Sunday morning breakfasts and construction site tours, and sneaky trips to Dairy De-Lite or TBQ that he had with his two sons, and he couldn’t have been more proud of the family business they started over 53 years ago. As the third generation enters the business, the memories and life lessons he taught us will last a lifetime.

As successful as he was, Vince always made sure to give back to the community. He was a long standing member of the Ciocaro Club, longstanding board member and past president of the ICHA (Italian Canadian HandiCapable Association), past president of the Ontario Masonry Association, awarded the Queens Jubilee Medal from the Premier of Ontario, awarded excellence in family business by Canadian Italian Business and Professionals Association, and was awarded the Heart Health Hero Award.

Vince shared his accolades with his loving wife Olivia, the couple was named Italians of the year, the Lifetime Achievement award from the Windsor Chamber of Commerce, the Herb Gray Champion Award, and the family was awarded the Outstanding Philanthropists award.

Vince and Olivia’s philanthropic involvement includes the Novelletto-Rosati Complex, Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Association, Sacred Heart Church, Transition to Betterness, and many more. These are the highlights of a career that saw countless awards and recognition not only for business, but for his involvement in the Windsor community.

Vince touched the lives of many people through his business, community and charitable involvement, and his resounding character that would leave a lasting impression on anyone who had the pleasure of meeting him, or facing him in a friendly (loud) game of cards.

His legacy of doing it his way will live on within the spirit of his family for generations to come. As he always said, “keep on trucking”.

If you so desire, donations to the Italian-Canadian Handicapable Association would be appreciated by the family. Visiting Sunday, September 10, 2023 from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday, September 11, 2023 from 8:30am until 9:30am with funeral procession at 9:45am leaving from Families First, 3260 Dougall Ave. South Ave. 519-969-5841 to Sacred Heart Church, LaSalle for funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Entombment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
