Condolences & Donations

I am very sorry to just be learning about Don's crossing over in March 2020. (I blame the pandemic.) That said, I received a beautiful card as part of a mailing that must have been sent to members of the Fort Street Chorale just before the holidays. I am grateful to his children who put this together. Don and Lois were both such wonderful people; I was blessed to know them through Fort Street Presbyterian Church in Detroit. I will always be full of gratitude for their kindness, quiet wisdom, and always finding their way to a place of good cheer and grace. I thank God greatly for them both.

Hello David and Lesley; I just found out about your father's death, and even though it has been a couple of months, I hope that I'm not too late in sending my condolences. I have such warm memories of both your mom and dad from when you lived in Ottawa. My mom, Anne, often mentioned Don right up to the end of her life. The last time I saw them was in Amherstburg when I was there for my aunt's funeral and we had a lovely lunch together. Don had the best laugh and was one of the kindest people I've ever known. I hope you are all doing ok, Marni

Don was always so sweet! Such a gentle, and kind person. Lois, too! We considered them part of our Fort Street family and know they will always be with us in spirit. Deepest sympathy and prayers for comfort and strength. It was an honor to know them.

I was very fond of Don. After his retirement, he and Lois started attending Fort Street and soon joined the Chorale and the worship choir. Don and I sang in the tenor section. As an architect, I helped him in the design of his retirement home and Pam and I visited him several times there as his and Lois’s health failed. Don always reminded me of my own father. I am grateful for his friendship and will miss our conversations. Blessings my friend. Rest In Peace.

Dear Bardwell family, As a member of the Fort Street Presbyterian Church of Detroit, Michigan our hearts go out to you. After Don and Lois retired they worshipped with us, Don preached occasionally and they sang in our choir. We loved them and will miss this wonderful couple.
