Obituary for Wayne Edward Peddie

September 21, 1945 – March 29, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wayne on March 29, 2024 at the age of 78. Beloved husband of Lynn (nee Brown) with whom he celebrated 55 years of marriage. Loving father of Tricia and Rick, Matt and Kate and Sarah and Bill. Wayne was predeceased by his daughter in law Brandy. He was a very proud Grandpa to Madison, Joshua, Jake, Christian, Loagan, Lilly, Emma and Leia. Wayne was predeceased by his parents Roy and Helen Peddie, his sister Sharon and brother in law Lyle, and in-laws Douglas and Dorothy Brown. Wayne will be dearly missed by his brother Gary and the late Debra Peddie, his sister Kathrine and Tony Zahaluk and his brother in law Wayne and Maureen Brown. He will be missed by his nieces and nephews, many friends and his beloved dog Darby.

Wayne retired from a long career at Ford Motor Company. He then went on to fulfill many various roles eventually travelling overseas to China, Germany and Turkey. He was an incredible wood worker and a jack of all trades. He was a man of many talents and proud of his accomplishments in life.

Wayne was an avid golfer spending years playing in leagues and travelling South for golf trips. He enjoyed darts, watching sports, and racing enduro motorcycles through the bush in his younger days.

His favorite place to be was the cottage at Old Woman’s River on Lake Huron. He first went when he and Lynn started dating and over the years they shared their love of it by inviting many friends and family to spend time up there with them. He spent many hours sailing in the bay, on the beach, or sitting on the porch looking out at the water with a beer in his hand.

At Wayne’s request, cremation has taken place. The family is hosting an open house in celebration of Wayne’s life at the Royal Canadian Legion 594 (5030 Howard Avenue, Oldcastle, ON N9H 0M3) on Sunday, April 14, 2024 from 2 - 5pm.

The family wishes to thank everyone for your condolences and warm wishes of comfort.
