Our deepest condolences to the Varga family on the passing of Bill. I had the great pleasure of working with Bill for many years during my employment with both the Town of Amherstburg and the County of Essex. He was always willing to listen to staff and administration when considering issues and matters being discussed at Council. He was a true gentleman in every sense of the word and respected by his peers. Bill King and Michele Merner

Our thoughts, hearts and prayers go out to all of the family of "Mr. Bill" and dear Betty Renaud. It's difficult to believe that he won't be coming home.....Mr. Bill was our neighbour for 25 years who we saw regularly, almost daily for small chat (sometimes turning into several hours), log splitting, grass cutting, the occasional libation, BBQ's, dinners.....the best neighbour we ever could have hoped for...imagine opening gifts on a snowy Christmas morning as a family...we look out our front window to see Mr. Bill ploughing our sidewalk all the way up to our home...and then proceed to do our driveway... Our three boys have known Mr. Bill all their lives and learned a great deal from him (though the log splitting at age 6 with Nick was a little scary)....his integrity, spirit and wit provided them with an example of adults that encouraged respect of our boys...yet in such a genuine and honest manner. He always took time for them...interested in their new car, girlfriends etc. etc. Again, he always took time....so selfless...to do for others and be a good friend and neighbour. And now Mr. Bill, we take time to reflect upon, honour and celebrate your life and all that you brought to everyone who was fortunate enough to have spent time with you. Our deepest condolences, The Bjorkman Family

My heart goes out to the Varga family and to Betty Renaud. Bill was a true gentleman, who proved over and over again you don't have to raise your voice to be heard. You don't have to slam a fist on the table to be recognized and a smile goes a lot further than a frown. Politically, he was a role model and a mentor. I've known Bill since the mid seventies and while a reporter, I interviewed him many times and over the years grew to - dare I say it - yes - I grew to love Bill Varga as had many others who knew him well. When I retired from the CBC my friend Bill had Jocelyn draw a portrait of me behind a microphone. He had it framed and presented to me - and it hangs beside my desk in my Windsor office to this day. God Bless you Bill Varga, you set a great example for those who follow in your footsteps. Percy Hatfield

My Dear Varga Family, and my Dear Friend Betty, I am deeply sorry for your great loss. Bill is an icon in the community and has been outstanding in every achievement. Bill was active in both LaSalle and Windsor, and our Community. Life has a better Reflection when we remember and are blessed to meet wonderful people in this world, regardless of Time. My Thoughts and Prayers are with you all, especially my dear friend Betty Renaud. Hugs, Giovanni D'Alessandro (also member of WDLC Exec)

Please accept my deep condolences on the passing of Bill. I had the privilege of working with Bill for many years in my capacity as the lawyer for the Town of LaSalle. He was dedicated to doing what he thought was the best for the Town. He was a gentle man, who was loved by many, including myself. And he was always a joy to be with at social events. The news of his passing brought a deep sadness to me. He will be greatly missed. May you find comfort in knowing that he loved and was always proud of his family. He often bragged about the accomplishments of various members of the family. I regret that I will not be able to attend at either the visitation or the funeral, as I will be in New York visiting my daughter. However, I will be with you in prayer during that time, to send my farewell kiss to Bill. I'm sure Bill will take the opportunity to say hello to my father, Dick Bondy, who passed away 5 years ago. They were good friends in this life, and I expect will laugh together once again in their new life.
