Szekely Bert

Peacefully at home on December 25, 2000 while in the loving care of his family at 79 years of age. Cherished husband of Julia (Julie) (nee Smidu) for 57 years. Beloved father of Julianna (Julie) and husband Alvin Masse, Bill and wife Nancy Szekely, Nancy and husband Carl Wilson. Dear son of the late Barnabas and Esther Szekely. Loving grandpa of Roy, Michael, Shawn, Kara, Tricia, and great-grandfather of Joshua, Richard and Alexis. Brother of Rose Banyai. Bert was a self employed tradesmen, builder and carpenter a talent and gift he was willing to share with anyone. He was a member of the Carpenters Union Local #494, the Turtle Club, St. Andrews Parish of LaSalle, the LaSalle Youth Centre, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1499, the LaSalle men's bowling league, senior's bowling league at Rose Bowl and the American Legion in Punta Gorda. Bert was the proud founder and frequent host of the "How Boot That Open" golf tournament which started over 24 years ago. If you so desire, donations to The Hospice of Windsor or The Windsor Regional Cancer Centre would be appreciated. Visiting Wednesday 3-5 & 7-9pm and Thursday 2-5 & 7-9pm. Prayers Thursday 7:30pm. Funeral Service Friday 10am at Families First Funeral Home & Chapel (969-5841) 2670 Dougall Ave. Cremation to follow Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
