Passed away peacefully at Extendicare Tecumseh on October 24, 2009 at 76 years of age. Loving father of Susan and Garry Girard, Donita Hart, Dave and Angie Hanes, Vicky and Joe Farrah, and Beth Hanes and Rob Thibert. Cherished grandpa of Paul, Jocelyn, Donald, Jodi, Carly, Julia, Alexander, Dana, Jill, Michael and David. Treasured great-grandpa of 5 great-grandchildren. Son of the late Red and Mae Hanes. Beloved brother of Bob and Barb Hanes and the late Dorothy Nott (2007). Will be sadly missed by his nieces, Kathy, Nancy, Patty and his great-nieces and great-nephews. Dear companion of his canine best friends Indy and Cyd. Don was the former co-owner of Victoria Steel Corporation for 40 years. He was an avid Goodfellows volunteer, past president of AKO and the Canadian Home Builders Association and was actively involved in raising funds to restore the Pelee Island Lighthouse and part owner of Dick's Marina. He was an active member of Windsor Yacht Club and Beach Grove Golf Club. If you so desire donations to the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
