Edmund Uszynski
Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on February 2, 2013 in his 91st year. Beloved husband and best friend of 53 years to Maria. Cherished father of Dan & Kim, Rick, and Chris & Deb. Adored Dziadzi of Jason, Kyle, Brooke, Ethan, and Maddie. He will be sadly missed by many relatives in Poland and friends in the Windsor area. He grew up in the rural part of Poland from which he was taken to a concentration camp in Syberia during WWII. He later joined the Free Polish Army under British forces and fought in battles in the Middle East and the Battle of Monte Cassino, Italy. He was discharged from the army in England and later immigrated to Windsor, ON. He was a retired employee, after 33 years of service, from GM Transmission Plant. Eddie loved his family, friends, dancing, singing, fishing, traveling, and chasing squirrels. He was a member of the Polish Veteran's Association and the RCL, most recently Branch #594. A heartfelt thank you to all his caregivers who have helped over the years. If you so desire, donations to the Alzheimer's Society of Windsor & Essex County would be appreciated by the family. Visiting Monday from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. A Veteran's Service under the auspices of the Windsor Veteran's Memorial Service Committee will be held on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. and parish prayers at 8 p.m. Funeral Wednesday 9:00 a.m. from Families First 3260 Dougall Ave. South Windsor, 519-969-5841 to Holy Trinity Polish Church for Mass at 9:45 a.m. Interment Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
