Elvino Campana

Born on August 26, 1933 in Rodeano Basso, Fruili, Italy and passed away with great courage on February 4, 2012 in Windsor with his loving family by his side. Devoted husband of Milvia for 52 years; and dearest father of Rob and wife Nancy, Dan and wife Karen. Elvino lived for his family and found great joy being Nonno to his 6 grandchildren Rocky, Connor, Kirsten, Domenic, Sophia and Katarina. Dearest brother of Nevia and husband Nello (deceased), Renzo (deceased) and wife Carol (deceased) Brother in law of Gianfranco and wife Claudia and Lida (deceased) and husband Vittorino (deceased). Predeceased by his parents Redento and Ida ( Graffi). He is survived by nieces & nephews in both the U.S. and Italy. Elvino left Italy and moved to France at the age of 16 to be schooled in the fine art of carpentry. In 1955 he immigrated to Canada, becoming a proud citizen in 1965. He initially settled in Elliot Lake and later moved to Windsor to begin work at Chrysler Canada, where he was a carpenter for 34 years. Elvino was a lifelong member of the Fogolar Furlan Club. He loved tending to his garden, fruit trees, woodworking and always keeping his yard and house pristine. He was an avid Detroit Lions and Red Wings fan and instilled his passion for sports in his sons at a very early age. Elvino will live on as he gave the ultimate gift of organ donation. A special thank you to his family doctor, Henry Fortuna and his staff, as well as Dr. Kostuk of London Health Sciences, who took compassionate care of Elvino over the years. Thanks to the many nurses at Hotel Dieu Hospital who cared for Elvino over the past 9 weeks. Your kindness has touched our hearts. As a tribute to Elvino's passion for carpentry, the family requests donations be made to Maryvale Adolescent Centre, where son Rob oversees the Woodworking Program.
