Eugenio Pocobene
It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of a great man, who was embraced by God at the age of 83. Born in Goriano Sicoli, Italy, on March 26th, 1928 and immigrated to Canada in 1951. We mourn Eugenio's passing from earth with grace and dignity on April 28, 2011. Reunited in Heaven with his beautiful daughter Rita Iannicello and his parents Gennaro and Celeste. He devoted his life to his family and blessed everyone with his love, faith, generosity, and kindness. Loving husband of Anna (DiPietro) for 59 cherished years. Adored by daughter Celeste Di Ponio (Angelo), Carmela Casalena (Al), the late Rita Iannicello (2010) (Carmen) and son-in-law Nino Casalena. Cherished and adored Nonno of Anna Villella (Dino), Jennifer Sheppard (Ron), Angela DiPonio (Patrick), Eugene DiPonio (Aynur), Rosanna Iannicello (Paolo), Michael Casalena (Kristen), Anthony Casalena (Vanessa) and Josie Iannicello. Cherished Bisnonno of Gianluca and Cristiano Villella and Carson Sheppard. Loving brother of Elisabetta DiMonte. Predeceased by brother Orlando Pocobene (Anna), sisters Lucia DeSantis (Alberto), and Delia Pocobene. Loving brother-in-law of Maria DiPietro (Donato), Cesare DiPietro (Elena), Assunta and the late Antonio DiPietro, Francesca and the late Sebastiano DiPietro, the late Carmelo DiPietro, the late Vittorio DiPietro (late Inesia). We would like to express our gratitude to Nino for being a constant companion for Dad. Your love and support will never be forgotten. We would also like to extend our gratitude to Dr. Michael Leung for your many years of care and compassion and our dad's personal support worker, Debi from ComCare. If you so desire, donations to the Windsor Regional Cancer Centre, Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the I.C.H.A. would be appreciated by the family. "To know unconditional love and compassion, to see loyalty and honour in every word and deed, to witness incredible strength and determination is to know this precious gift of a man whom we are proud to have called husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend!"
