Giuseppe Rotondi

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our family patriarch on February 8, 2013 at Windsor Regional, Met campus, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 90. Beloved husband of Lina (DeBenedetti) with whom he shared 64 years of marriage. Adored Papa of Lidia and son in-law Mario Mancini. Proud Nonno of Lisa (Frank) Polidori, and Paul (Marija) Mancini. Much loved Bisnonno of his precious treasures; Ryan, Jason, Anthony and Adriana. Joe was born in Ceprano, Frosinone, Italy on January 8, 1923 to the late Francesco and Rosa Rotondi. Dear brother of Teresa (2009) and late husband Cataldo Carducci (Italy), Maria (2011) and her late husband Arduino Vona (Italy), Liliana and her late husband Rocco Gallina, Loreta and her husband Guerrino Pullo, Sante (1991) and his wife Amelia, and Mario (1972) and his wife Helen. Beloved son-in-law of the late Pasquale and Vittoria DeBenedetti of Italy. Dear brother in-law of Francesca and her late husband Giuseppe D'Amico (Italy). Special friend and brother in-law of Joe and Rose DeBenedetti. Beloved "Zio Joe" of many nieces and nephews in Windsor, Michigan and Italy. Joe was a devoted employee of The City of Windsor, Public Works Department, until his retirement in 1989. Joe was an original member of the Ciociaro Club where he spent countless volunteer hours. He helped with the building of the Madonna di Canneto Chapel, and held the position of Sargeant at Arms for many years. Joe played music with the Ciociaro Folklore Group where he made many lasting friendships and travelled to many festivals in Canada, USA, and Italy. Joe learned to play the organetto at a very young age and was the happiest playing music for his family and friends. He thrived while working in his abundant garden and sharing his bounty with others. Many happy times were shared with his dear neighbours, Mike and Linda Polsinelli. The family would appreciate donations to In Honour Of The Ones We Love, in recognition of the hard work of Joe's Niece, Teresa Silvestri with this charity. Visiting Tuesday 7-9 pm, Wednesday 3-5 and 7-9 pm with prayers at 4:30 pm. Funeral service Thursday 8:45 am from Families First 3260 Dougall Ave. South Windsor, 519-969-5841 then in procession to St. Angela Merici Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am.
